The Story of Harvey Books
In the summer of 2002, Kevin Harvey began to edit and proofread for his first client, a small company based out of Wake Forest, North Carolina. By February 2003, his new side gig had grown enough that he had arrived at a crossroads: continue his full-time job in education or focus full-time on freelance editing. With the support of his wife, Amy, he chose editing!
Over the next several years, Kevin built his client list to include Thomas Nelson Publishers, Integrity Publishers, Baker Books, WaterBrook & Multnomah, Lifeway Christian Resources, Abingdon Press, FaithWords, Love & Respect Ministries, and more. Initially providing proofreading and copy editing services, he would later expand his services to assisting authors and publishers with more substantive editing and ghostwriting, while also receiving the opportunity to author a few small books himself!
After nearly two decades of self-employment, on March 13, 2020 (yes, we’ll never forget that date, as you can probably imagine!), Kevin and Amy officially formed Harvey Books, where his focus would continue in the publishing world, and she would bring her professional bookkeeping services into the mix. Since then Harvey Books has added more than 50 additional editing, graphic design, and bookkeeping professionals to their team, exponentially increasing their ability to provide quality service to their growing list of clients, which now includes HarperCollins Christian Publishing, HarperCollins Focus, and Cider Mill Press.
From writing and editing, to interior and exterior book design, and even social media marketing, Harvey Books has the quality team in place ready to assist individuals and companies with all of their publishing needs.
