  • Allison landed in the freelance editing world in 2013. She quickly found she loved the work, as her detail-oriented nature and passion for books make her well suited to this field. She has an undergraduate degree in psychology, with a minor in English, from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

    Allison has worked on more than four hundred titles and has been contracted for jobs in a variety of genres: fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, self-help books, among others. She has copyedited and proofread books by many well-known and New York Times bestselling authors.

  • Amy is a Nashville-based writer and editor who specializes in children’s books, four-color nonfiction (lifestyle, cookbooks, devotionals & daily readers), and trade nonfiction. She also enjoys line editing and copy editing genre fiction.

    Formerly an editor at HarperCollins Publishers, today Amy enjoys writing and editing books for her Big 5 publishing clients. She’s also written and produced podcasts and broadcast television series for authors and brands like Simplified by Emily Ley, Jen Hatmaker, Annie F. Downs, Jesus Calling, and the Jesus Storybook Bible.

    Right now, she’s probably making tacos in her tiny kitchen, hiking, or obsessing over the Cincinnati Reds. There is definitely a cup of tea nearby.

  • Andrew has been a copy editor and proofreader specializing in adult nonfiction and scholarly writing since 2014. He has worked with university presses such as Georgetown, Baylor, and the University of Arizona and with a variety of Christian publishers, including Reformation Heritage, P&R Publishing, Baker Books, InterVarsity Press, and HarperCollins Christian. Andrew has served authors publishing in a wide array of genres but has focused particularly on Christian theology and ethics, church history, American foreign policy, international affairs, public policy, and leadership.

  • Casey brings 25+ years of experience to: developmental editing, substantive editing, and line editing, in both nonfiction and fiction. She has worked extensively in the genres of sport, health & fitness, and outdoor adventure, as well as in general fiction. Whether editing a thriller, cookbook, romcom, guidebook or textbook, her aim is always to understand a writer's goals/tone/style, and knowing that, help craft, massage, or polish a project into its best possible form. Her experience also extends to writing back-cover copy, crafting promotional headlines and teasers, proofreading, and fact-checking.

  • Dawn is a creative, strategic editor who has been writing and editing professionally since 2006, most recently as acquisitions editor for W Publishing Group of HarperCollins Christian Publishing. She’s worked with many bestselling authors, including Max Lucado, Kathie Lee Gifford, Chris Tomlin, Dr. Tony Evans and family, Annie F. Downs, and Liz Marie Galvan. Dawn has also written and ghostwritten several children’s books. With a B.S. in Journalism & Media from the University of Tennessee, Dawn began her career as a magazine editor and feature writer before transitioning to book publishing in 2014. She lives outside of Dallas, Texas.

  • As an indexer of more than 5 years, Elise’s work has included projects in a vast variety of genres including Christian/theology, historical, scientific, textbooks, cookbooks, political, trade/general knowledge, and more. Her clients include HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Wiley, Smithsonian Press, Moody Publishing, and many colleges and universities throughout the United States and beyond. She is passionate about reading and learning new things regardless of the topic or genre. Elise considers it a blessing to be able to help authors and publishers develop an index for their book.

  • Gayle has been a freelance writer since 2005, when an impromptu interview with recently crowned American Idol winner Carrie Underwood sparked a new career, where she became passionate about telling authentic stories, interviewing hundreds and hundreds of artists and celebrities. In 2017, Gayle transitioned to working as an editor as well, for one of the top global entertainment websites, driven to make writers tell compelling stories in a concise and authentic voice. In 2020, Gayle launched her own entertainment website, while also still helping people tell great, entertaining stories.

  • Georgette Beatty has twenty-five years of professional editing experience, and she’s committed to helping authors produce the best work possible for their audiences.

    Georgette has a bachelor’s degree in communication from Purdue University, with minors in English and psychology. She started her career at Scholastic Reading Counts!, a reading motivation and assessment system used in schools. She then spent nearly eleven years at John Wiley & Sons, Inc., working on titles in the For Dummies line.

    Georgette launched GCB Editorial Services, LLC, in 2015. Prescriptive nonfiction books are her specialty; picture books and middle grade books remain her first love.

  • Jeff got his start in the graphic design world way back before Photoshop was even a neuron spark in the minds of John or Thomas Knolls. His first computer was an Amiga—tiny, slow, and USB-less— that opened the door for a future he could not have imagined. He quickly graduated to the Apple way of life and has not looked back. He is now fluent in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and various other design programs.

    Jeff’s specialty is book design and production. He also has experience with magazine design, logos, identity packages, advertising, marketing, posters, and more.

    Former clients include Harvest House Publishers, DaySpring Cards, Guideposts, the Parable Group, Evangel University, Blessings Unlimited, Worthy Publishing, Cook Publishing, OnCourse Magazine, and MDesign Interactive.

  • Jeremy edits cocktail books mainly—including the highly lauded City Cocktails series from Cider Mill Press—and has been working in publishing since 2016. Holding an MFA in fiction from Temple University, he has ghostwritten children’s books, edited DIY and how-to books, and even proofread McConaughey’s Greenlights (Penguin Random House 2020) among many other great works of fiction and nonfiction. When not on the computer, he is traveling, playing synths, or competing with his over-30 men's soccer team in Lancaster, PA.

  • Jill began her career as a freelance copy editor and proofreader in the late 1990s. Her experience working for multiple publishers, along with her nerdlike grasp of English grammar and vocabulary and her eagle eye for detail, has honed her into a skilled technician. She lives with her husband and four mostly grown children in the beautiful state of New Hampshire, where she loves taking nature walks whenever time allows.

  • Jodi is an introvert, dog mom, and seasoned editor. She graduated cum laude from Samford University with a BA in Classics before becoming an intern at Thomas Nelson Publishers, now an imprint of HarperCollins Christian Publishing. She held various roles during her fourteen years with the company, primarily with the fiction editorial team. Jodi now works as a freelance editor and lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her black-and-white rescue dogs.

  • Julianna graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s in English Literature and minor in History in 2021 with a 4.0 GPA. She is currently earning her master’s degree from Auburn University in English Literature, along with a Certificate of Technical and Professional Communication. Through her position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), she has taught British Literature (2022–23) as well as English Composition (2023–24) at Auburn. Julianna interned for StudyBreaks Online Literary Magazine as a writer in 2021—the same year she began freelancing. She has proofread for several publishing companies on a wide range of projects, including YA fiction, children’s books (including an atlas), devotionals, and Christian inspiration.

  • Julie has been working for Thomas Nelson/HarperCollins for almost thirty years. She has experience as a substantive editor, line editor, copyeditor, and proofreader in multiple genres. In the last few years, she has shifted her focus toward fiction editing for adults and young adults, other than occasionally proofreading children’s picture books.

  • A full-time career editor since 1988, Kathleen’s experience spans a variety of media, from consumer magazines to association journals, from technical white papers to books by bestselling authors. She is well-versed in several style guides, including the Chicago Manual of Style. Her bachelor’s degree is in English, and she holds a Professional Clear Teaching Credential in Secondary Education, English from the University of California.

  • An accomplished and award-winning graphic designer with two decades of industry experience, Kathy has left her creative mark on a diverse range of projects. Her specialization in book design encompasses crafting captivating book covers, lettering, and meticulously designed interior layouts for a roster that includes the likes of Dude Perfect, Joanna Gaines, and many other bestselling authors. Kathy is dedicated to her craft and transforming ideas into visually compelling works of art. When she’s not designing, you’ll find Kathy in Nashville, TN, with her husband, three daughters, and two Boston Terriers.

  • Lauren J. is a freelance editor for Harvey Books and HarperCollins Christian, nonprofits, and magazines. She has also worked with small publishing houses. A published writer, her poetry has appeared in print and online and has received nominations for a Pushcart Prize and the Best of the Net. Originally from Texas, Lauren graduated summa cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BFA in Creative Writing and a minor in literature. She is pursuing her MFA in poetry at North Carolina State University.

  • Lisa has nearly 20 years of experience as a freelance copy editor and proofreader and has worked on a wide range of projects for mainstream and Christian publishers, including HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Penguin Random House, Turner, and Grandin Hood Publishers. She has worked on over a thousand titles in numerous genres, both fiction and non-fiction, including cookbooks, devotionals, biographies, and memoirs.

    An avid reader and well versed in the Chicago Manual of Style, she has an eye for detail and makes it her goal to reflect that in her work as she strives to preserve each author’s individual style.

  • Mark is a proofreader and editor with a strong academic background in English language and literature, in addition to many editing credits. He specializes in any nonfiction, with a particular interest in nonfiction involving research. He is also experienced as a writer and editor of creative nonfiction. He loves helping writers express their ideas more clearly, efficiently, and beautifully.

  • Merry has been working as a freelance editor since 2010, collaborating on fiction and nonfiction projects. Bilingual, she also enjoys working on Spanish-language manuscripts. She is skilled in developmental and substantive editing. Merry enjoys variety and is known for her attention to detail.

    Merry has bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Spanish. When she’s not editing or interpreting, Merry loves to travel with her two sons. These days, you can find them exploring the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico.

  • Pam has been a freelance proofreader and copy editor since 2010. In those years she has completed over 500 book projects. Her favorite genres are fiction (mystery, historical fiction, young adult) and the nonfiction categories of memoir, self-help, health, cookbooks, historical, science, and Bible/spiritual. Pam has also completed a handful of developmental editing projects, done some ghostwriting, and written back cover copies. Her favorite way to spend time when she’s not editing is with her family—her husband, four adult daughters, their husbands, and a growing number of grandkids!

  • Phil is a seasoned writer and editor who has contributed to and shaped content for multiple nonfiction and fiction titles, collaborating with an array of publishers, editors, and authors. His sweet spots include manuscript dev/sub editing, copyediting, proofreading, content packets, chapter and study-guide writing, and marketing copy (cover/flap/catalog). Phil is also a regular contributing writer to Cityview magazine and an accomplished hiker, keyboardist, and disc golf player. He is based in Franklin, Tennessee.

  • Rachel has thirty years of freelance editorial experience in both fiction and nonfiction. She has solid editing, proofreading, and writing skills, as well as an eye for consistency, logic, and continuity. She is well versed in CMOS, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat.

    Rachel prefers to work with fiction but has edited genres across the board. She avoids gratuitous sex and violence, preferring manuscripts that would not exceed an R rating.

    Her recent corporate clients include Kregel Publications, Redemption Press, and HarperCollins Christian Publishing. She also works regularly with indie authors.

  • Renee is a summa cum laude graduate and valedictorian of Emerson College, where she earned a BFA in creative writing with a concentration in poetry and a minor in film. A former in-house proofreader for Houghton Mifflin, Renee has been a freelance proofreader and copy editor since 1999. She has an extensive knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style and is especially dedicated to ensuring the accuracy and consistency of nonfiction projects. Some of her most recent clients include Cider Mill Press, Sandorf Passage, and HarperCollins Celebrate, for whom she has performed highly detailed proofreading.

  • Sally grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and moved to Nashville to go to college. After doing some proofreading and copyediting after college, she became a teacher, mostly high school math and English but also computer science, reading skills, and some French and Latin. She also taught teachers at the graduate school level. She taught for sixteen years and has done proofreading, copyediting, and some nonfiction writing (as needed) for twenty-two years while raising her children.

  • Shana is a seasoned proofreader who has worked with major publishers and diverse clientele across genres. Her portfolio also includes services in transcribing. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in English with cum laude honors, Shana combines her educational foundation with twenty years of freelancing in the publishing industry, partnering with leading publishers for both renowned and first-time authors. As a former public school teacher and a homeschooling parent, her commitment to education shines. She currently lives in Gulf Shores, Alabama. In her free time, she enjoys boating, running, practicing martial arts, and teaching fitness classes to Parkinson’s disease patients.
